The Incredible Hulk research summary

In 1962 a new comic book hero was created and sold to the public. His name was The Incredible Hulk. He originally only lasted a few comic book runs before being cancelled in 1963. The hulk character began appearing in the comic book series “Tales to Astonish” in issue #102 and in 1968 this series was renamed “The Incredible Hulk” becoming the second volume. The renamed comic series ran until March 1999 with issue #474 where it was replaced by the series simply named “Hulk”. This series ran until February 2000 when it was retitled to “The Incredible Hulk”  volume 3. In March 2007 a new title character was put in and the series renamed yet again this time under the name “The Incredible Hercules” until September 2009 where it was renamed back to “The Incredible Hulk” starting with issue #600.

In 1977 CBS released a tv show titled “The Incredible Hulk” starring Bill Bixby as Dr. David Bruce Banner and the famous body builder Lou Ferrigno as The Hulk. It started as a 2 hour pilot movie on November 4th 1977 with the show running for 5 seasons from 1978 to 1982. This tv show was a good time for the whole family and for many it was and still is a family tradition to watch the show together.

The reason I chose this particular adaptation is because I feel it will closely emulate the ideas and original story while giving a more full body sense of what the show is truly about. The Hulk is a Jeckyll and Hyde type of character in the sense that he is a simple scientist until he is angered triggering a terrifying metamorphosis in which he becomes The Hulk. The Hulk is an enormous creature with extraordinary strength but he never uses it to harm those who haven’t harmed him showing that he is not just a mindless thing to be feared.
